Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a genetic condition that affects the connective tissue in the body. Connective tissue covers over 95% of your body so there is little that escapes the symptoms. There are 6 types of EDS and can affect children, men and women of any race or ethnic group. It is characterised by abnormalities of the skin, ligaments and internal organs and the vascular type can be life limiting. EDS can be relentlessly painful and extremely debilitating.
Ehlers-Danlos Support UK was set up in 1987 to support, advise and inform those living with EDS and help them live a full, active and positive life. They are the only UK based charity that exclusively represents and supports people with any type of EDS.
The charity strives to educate the medical community promoting joined up medical care, treatment, management and improve accurate diagnosis. What’s more, they also provide funding for vital research to understand EDS, working towards a cure.
Profile are proud to share our support to EDS UK and hope that you will follow us in doing so. You can find out more about EDS UK at www.ehlers-danlos.org.
